The Acropolis Museum presents the history of the Acropolis and its slopes through finds from the archaeological site. It opened in the summer of 2009.

Start on the ground floor in the Gallery of the Acropolis Slopes, where finds from sanctuaries and settlements on the slopes are displayed. The first-floor galleries then follow the history of the Acropolis summit from the 2nd millennium BC to the end of antiquity.

On the third floor, the Parthenon Gallery displays the temple’s sculptural decoration. At the base of the museum, you can also see the remains of an ancient Athenian neighbourhood uncovered during archaeological excavation. The admission ticket includes access to this excavation.

A route through 22 exhibits takes about 2 hours. Use that as a practical framework for planning how long to spend at the Acropolis Museum, while leaving time to pause at the galleries that interest you.
